Piano lessons in Huddersfield

Janet TaylorI’m Janet Taylor and I teach piano in my home in Moldgreen, Huddersfield to people of all ages from children as young as 7 right up to adults.

Beginners are welcome as well as those who have some experience. At one time I taught a retired journalist who had played to a high level in his youth and then not touched a piano for 40 years. He really enjoyed re-discovering his skills. Click here to read some feedback about my teaching.

I have always enjoyed playing the piano and have been teaching piano alongside my career for the past 11 years. I began when my niece and the daughter of one of my colleagues wanted to learn and I discovered that I loved teaching and had a natural ability to impart my skills so took on more pupils. I have now retired from my day job so am able to take on more students. I am really enthusiastic about being available to teach full-time. I gained the CTABRSM (Certificate in Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music) from the Royal Northern School of Music in Manchester in 2005.

When I’m not playing or teaching piano I am also a keen cook and love to make dishes from scratch using home grown produce (when available). I have included a food blog on my website to combine my interests of music and cooking. I particularly enjoy trying new recipes, baking and making jams, chutneys and pickles. I have both my grandmothers’ cookery books from during the war, so intend to carry on the family tradition of recording what I cook.
